River Trails District 26 is committed to preparing future leaders in the area of science, technology, engineering and math, and therefore science education is central to the lives of all. A high-quality science education means that students will develop an in-depth understanding of content and develop key skills—communication, collaboration, inquiry, problem solving, and flexibility—that will serve them throughout their educational and professional lives.
All science curriculum is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. Teachers use the standards at each grade level to engage students in science education.
Effective science teaching and learning better prepares our students for entrance into college and careers. Our instruction helps students acquire a deep understanding of core science and engineering content and ideas as well as experience applying that knowledge in any context. In all classrooms students display scientific proficiency by engaging in practices that demonstrate the ability to apply scientific concepts into their natural world.
