Health services are provided by a healthcare professional in each of the District 26 schools. District staff members deliver emergency care for illness and injuries, administer medication if needed, monitor communicable diseases, vision and hearing screenings, and first aid to students and staff.
An injury or illness may require a student to be sent home. The most common reasons for sending a student home are a fever of 100 degrees or greater, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Please make sure the school has your current and accurate contact and emergency numbers on file for your student. A student may return to school when she/he is fever free (without fever reducing medication such as Tylenol, Motrin, Advil), or has not had diarrhea, and/or vomited for 24 hours.
