Summer Camp 2023
Summer camp is back at RTMS! This year Camp Raven will take place for two sessions. In addition to Camp Raven, Mrs. Steigerwald is also offering a Kitchen and Gardening Camp!
The first session for both of these camps will take place from June 12 to June 23. The second session of Camp Raven will go from July 10 to July 20. Camp costs $50 for each two-week session. Camp Raven
Camp Instructors: Jim Kuperman and Kyle Farley
Camp Overview: All incoming 6th , 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to join River Trails School District’s “Camp Raven” summer camp. The movement-based camp will provide students with an opportunity to take part in two (or more) weeks of physical activity and fun with fellow River Trails students. Students will come to camp each day ready to move and cooperate in team-based, multi-sport, and fitness based activities. All activities will be held outdoors. On days with inclement weather, in-person camp will be canceled. Students must wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle. Camp Activities Include:
- Multi-Sport Activities (Soccer, frisbee, kickball, softball, etc…)
- Fitness Based Activities (Relays, obstacle course, etc…)
- Cooperative / Group Activities (Flag tag, relay activities, etc…)
- Mindfulness Activities (Yoga, cool down/breathing techniques, etc…)
- Outdoor Recreational Activities
Cost: $50.00 per session (Two Weeks)
Camp Length: Two Weeks (Campers may sign up for 1 or 2 sessions)
Session 1: June 12 to June 23
Session 2: July 10 to July 20
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (and Friday 6/23)
Time: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Kitchen and Gardening Camp
Camp Instructor: Lea Steigerwald
Camp Overview: All incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to join River Trails School District’s Kitchen and Gardening summer camp. This life skills based camp will teach students to grow their own food and learn some basic cooking skills, all while having fun and getting to know other RTMS students. Students will spend time each day working in the garden and then moving into the classroom kitchens to prepare a recipe of the day. Students should be prepared to work together in groups to make some amazing dishes using fresh foods straight from the garden. Please wear shoes and clothes suitable for garden work. Camp Activities Include:
- Gardening skills like planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting
- Basic cooking skills like measuring, cutting, mixing, baking, and stovetop use
- We will complete breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes, as well as snacks and dessert recipes
- Learning kitchen cleanup skills
Cost: $50.00 per session
Camp Length: Two weeks
June 12 to June 23 (no camp on June 19)
