Dear River Trails Families,
It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we must share the news that George Keehn, beloved P.E. teacher at River Trails Middle School, unexpectedly passed away this week. This is a tremendous loss for RTMS, our district and the community as a whole.
Coach Keehn has been with RTMS for 16 years and was an incredibly dedicated teacher, adored by his co-workers and students. He always had a fun story or joke to share that helped brighten anyone’s day. Coach Keehn especially loved basketball and coached many of our teams over the years. He had so many fascinating memories and stories from his time as a coach and teacher. We were incredibly lucky to know George and to have him here with us for so long.
We know this news will be difficult for many to process, including students, families and colleagues. On Monday, and throughout the week, we will have social workers available for anyone who needs support. If you feel your student needs additional support, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Krall-Meske, Mr. Henkel or any trusted staff member at RTMS.
We will find ways to honor his life and legacy in the days and weeks ahead. In the meantime, please keep Coach Keehn’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
