December Board Recap

December Board Recap

The River Trails School District 26 Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at River Trails Middle School. It was also livestreamed on our website. A full recording of the meeting is available for viewing on our YouTube page.

Here are the highlights:

  • Prior to the meeting, the River Trails Middle School Jazz Ensemble and members of Euclid’s chorus performed live in the RTMS cafeteria.

  • The Board conducted a public hearing regarding the 2022 tax levy. This included a presentation by Dr. Lyndl Schuster, assistant superintendent for business services. The tax levy was later approved by the Board.

  • Board members recapped their experiences at the recent “Triple I” conference. This event brings together the Illinois Association of School Boards, Illinois Association of School Administrators and Illinois Association of School Business Officials.

  • River Trails Education Association representative Bob Kastner offered remarks on behalf of RTEA membership. “I’d like to thank the administration and the Board for our continuing working relationship.” Kastner expressed support for a memorandum of understanding on educational support professionals’ (ESP) evaluations that the Board would be voting on.

  • Kristy Seifert, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, expounded on the memorandum of understanding for ESP evaluation. “We want to look at evaluations through an equitable lens and also through a growth lens where we can provide some effective feedback to our staff.” The Board accepted this memorandum of understanding.

  • Dr. Schuster provided details about the proposed construction of a mini soccer pitch at Euclid. The Mount Prospect Board of Trustees recently approved a grant to cover the cost of this project in collaboration with the district and the Bridge Community Church. The Board will vote to officially approve the soccer pitch at a future meeting.

  • Dr. Jodi Megerle, in her superintendent’s report, updated the Board on the recent closing of the Nipper School building sale. The $3+ million in proceeds from the sale will go toward funding the upcoming infrastructure projects at Euclid and Indian Grove.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 17 at River Trails Middle School. You can email the board at boe@rtsd26.org.
