Referendum Information

Enrollment Crisis

Since the April election, the Board of Education has discussed the facilities and enrollment options at every meeting. They have asked for additional information and debated the pros and cons of many ways to meet the needs of our growing enrollment. We anticipate the board making a decision on July 16 for changes to be implemented in the fall of 2020. If you would like to learn more about the best alternatives to the referendum option, click here. None of these options is an optimal solution. Compromises will need to be made and some change is inevitable. Please know that the Board of Education takes their responsibility on this, and all decisions, very seriously and makes these decisions based on what is best for our children.

Thank you for sharing your questions, ideas and concerns with the Board at their meetings on June 11 and 25 at River Trails Middle School. Community members are always welcome at Board of Education meetings.

Strategic Planning

Chinese Proverb Thank you to all of our community members that participated in the Future Trails community engagement sessions during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. Our next step moving forward is to update our strategic plan. Our plan focuses on all students being Heart READY, Head READY and Life READY. We will achieve this with an intentional focus in two strategic areas:

  • Providing engaging and purposeful pathways to personalized academic growth.
  • Cultivating resourceful, resilient citizens through social emotional learning in a nurturing environment.

This spring we are working with a team of students, staff and parents to strengthen our vision, define our objectives, prioritize our need and determine communication methods.
We will be meeting three times a year after our initial sessions this spring. If you are interested in participating, please contact Veronica Kagan at vkagan@rtsd26.org or 847.297.4120.
