They will learn the lines of latitude and longitude and be able to explain how they affect the way people live as well as the temperatures around the world. The students will be working with atlases to conquer these tools and to help master their knowledge of the vocabulary that relates to maps. They will also learn how to read maps during this unit while working with atlases. The students will also learn to interpret a variety of maps, including political maps, physical maps, and thematic maps. There will also be an opportunity for the students to learn how to create a map. This will be done with our project, “Making a Treasure Map.” The students will have an exciting time working on this unit as well as expanding their knowledge of mapping skills.
