Students attend Physical Development classes each day for thirty minutes.

Objectives

The short term objective of the physical development program is to provide students with opportunities to learn object handling, spatial orientation, body image, rhythms, balance, fitness concepts and miscellaneous locomotor and nonlocomoter activities.

The long term objective is to teach students the skills they need to be active for life and motivate themselves to remain active on their own.

In this site you will find the after-school sports calendar, a brief description of the special events held in class throughout the year and related links.

After School Sports

After school sports is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3:30—4:15 for students in Grades 3, 4 and 5.  This is a school sponsored program under the direction of Mr. Geati, Ms. Millett and Mrs. Viorel.  Students take part in playing various supervised games such as volleyball, softball, dodgeball, basketball, etc.

Jump Rope for Heart

During the week of March 20—24, students in grades 3,4 and 5 will take part in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Jump Rope For Heart.  All P.E. classes will be devoted to jumping and raising funds for the AHA.  By participating in Jump Rope For Heart, you and your child are helping people in your community fight America’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers– heart disease and stroke.  Thanks for helping other people, and enjoy Jump Rope for Heart.

Cystic Fibrosis Mini-March

In April, students in grades Kindergarten,1 and 2 will participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Mini-March.  Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease affecting appox. 30,0000 children and adults in the U.S. today.  CF causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus, which clogs the airways and leads to life-threatening lung infections.  Please remind your children the value of giving and sharing with those that are less fortunate.
